I qualified in 1999, full of ambition but with no real intention of ever becoming a general practitioner.
In fact, during my training, I'm embarrassed to admit that I viewed GPs as less ambitious; and then I found myself in their shoes. What a reality check it was.

MY FULL STORY
After working in high-pressure hospital environments, from ICUs to labor wards, I returned from the UK and began GP locum work to simply “make ends meet.”
What I discovered was unexpected: general practice is anything but simple. It demands breadth, depth, and an emotional intelligence that few other medical roles require. It overwhelmed me, but it also challenged me to grow; as I became more confident and spent time in GP practices, I caught a glimpse of how rewarding this career might be.

Luckily, I stumbled into an opportunity to take over a GP practice under the wing of a seasoned and generous mentor; this was a game-changer. I began to see what a rich, rewarding, and relationship-driven discipline general practice truly is.
Over more than two decades, I built a fulfilling career in a field I once overlooked.

Today, I’m passionate about mentoring the next generation of GPs. I know how disorienting it can feel to step into a generalist role without a roadmap. I know the sleepless nights, the fear of missing something, the awkward moments of “I have no idea what this medication is for.”
I’m here to guide you, step by baby step, to discover that for yourself.
